Every week we choose a selection of books we like to go on the 'pick of the week' stand in the children's Library. This week we have chosen books on football to display. This includes lots of books on players and their managers. I helped in choosing the books, which everyone can read when they come in to the Library! The display also includes some fiction (story) books, one of the titles is: 'The Football Machine' - This is my favourite football story book! The display changes every Monday so please come in and have a look at what we have chosen for next week!

My First Impressions! PDF Print E-mail

This is an account by one of Homework Club's brand new members, about his first impressions of the club!

On my first day at the club, the author Luke Temple came to visit. I found this exciting because I had never met an author before and it felt wonderful to meet one! I enjoyed listening to him speak about what he does at home and his lifestyle. I also found it interesting listening to how he makes up the stories which he writes. I liked watching his video because when I was little I thought that authors only wrote stories, but I now know that they have a normal life like us! I liked doing his work sheet, because I found it interesting learning about the characters within his book such as 'Ben' and 'Harriet'. My first impressions of Homework Club were "Amazing", because I don't like doing my Homework at home, because it gets on my nerves, but at Homework Club I have more support to help me - and it's more fun! I am going to come back to Homework Club in the future because I enjoyed doing my Homework with my friends and the fun activities we get to do afterwards.

This month in Homework Club we have been writing stories, using the themes Luke Temple showed us. My story is called "Too Many Cakes." It is about a heavily overweight person losing the race at sports day, and breaking his leg. We have been using ideas from each other and the things that Luke Temple told us about. When we have finished writing them we are going to publish them on the internet for you to enjoy. They will also be available to read in the junior library at your leisure!Smile

"If you get stuck you have someone to help you. There are lots of choices for Healthy snacks and you can have a drink of water. You are allowed to use books for information and you can go on the computer. Homework Club is a way of meeting new friends and there are fun games too!
